🚩 Traditional Breakfast Shop in Old Residential Area Draws Constant Customers
Wu Hu Soy Milk is located on Xing'an Street in Taipei's Zhongshan District, approximately a 7-minute walk between MRT Nanjing Fuxing and Zhongshan Junior High School stations. The shop is situated at the entrance corridor on the south side of Xing'an Hua City, with a small, almost faded sign that's very easy to miss from the street.
The corridor has many seats, and the semi-open space is well-ventilated. Visiting in mid-October, there was a breeze, so it wasn't too hot. On the left side is an open kitchen and ordering counter. There is reportedly a restroom, but it's likely shared with the community, and I didn't look for it today.
You order and pay at the counter before seating yourself. The staff are friendly and politely pointed me to a seat without any post-rain puddles, speaking kindly without the usual gruffness found in many old shops 😅.
Today's order included:
Sesame Flatbread with Fried Dough and Egg $49
The sesame flatbread is thin, crispy, and fragrant, lacking any oily aftertaste, and it's a perfect bite size. Paired with the soft fried dough and somewhat thick fried egg, no sauce was added beforehand, so I tasted the original flavors. It would likely be great with some seasoning as well.
Soy Milk $25
You can choose no sugar, half sugar, full sugar, and also the temperature and container.
Today, I chose half-sugar warm soy milk, and the sweetness was just right for me.
The soy milk isn't extremely thick, with a very palatable consistency.
I visited today at around 9 AM on a weekday, and there were many customers dining in. Midway through, a long line even formed for takeout, showing that business is indeed good. It's only a pity that they close at 11 AM daily, so it's a shame it can't be enjoyed for lunch.
