This Old Ding Feng Dumpling King at Yonghe Lehua Night Market sells dumplings, braised dishes, and beef noodles, and it's quite popular. Even on a weekday evening, it’s nearly full.
The dining process is relatively simple—customers pick up a menu, find a seat, and write down their order before taking it to the front for checkout. They also have to get their own utensils, which is typical of a night market's semi-self-service style. However, the owner and staff are quite polite and don’t appear impatient when speaking.
The dumplings aren’t made fresh to order, but they taste pretty good. We ordered sauerkraut dumplings, and they indeed had a sour and fragrant flavor. They added minced ginger to enhance the taste and reduce the fishy smell, and the skin isn’t too thick. The filling is quite generous and flavorful enough that you don’t really need dipping sauce, which is a relatively rare flavor worth trying.
For the side dishes, we ordered chicken feet and shredded potatoes. Overall, it's a bit oily but quite appetizing. The shredded potatoes are crispy, and the chicken feet are braised thoroughly with a slight sour flavor, which pairs perfectly with the dumplings.
The environment is clean, and the air conditioning is cool enough, making it a rare comfortable spot to eat in a night market. If you like dishes that feature sauerkraut, I highly recommend this place.
