Located in Taitung, Zhenghai City North Restaurant has always been the representative of affordable northern noodle dishes in the hearts of locals. This visit, what surprised me the most wasn't the dishes themselves, but the refreshing feeling brought by the complete renovation of the restaurant. The new dining space is bright, spacious, and clean, with a more comfortable arrangement of tables and chairs—no longer as slightly cramped as in the past. You can feel the upgraded attentiveness the moment you step into the restaurant.

This time, we ordered three quintessential dishes: the layered pancake, sesame sauce noodles, and wonton soup, all of which are essential specialties of northern restaurants.

When the layered pancake was served, it was fragrant with a slightly crispy exterior and a soft interior, with a distinct layer texture. It's delicious on its own, but the real highlight is the restaurant's most distinctive feature—the all-you-can-eat chive sauce. This chive sauce can be called the treasure of Zhenghai City, and some people come just for it. It has a rich flavor that is not overwhelming, with a bit of savory saltiness and the spiciness of chives. Spreading it on the layered pancake is simply perfect, elevating the aroma to another level.
