📍 Hong Kong Fortress Hill
The well-known chain, Tan Tsai Yunnan Rice Noodles 🇭🇰🍜
Tan Tsai Yunnan Rice Noodles and Tan Tsai San Ge Rice Noodles are two of the most famous rice noodle chains, rumored to be from the same group, but with different decor.
I first learned about this restaurant through a favorite Hong Kong YouTuber, and every time I return to Hong Kong, I have to order takeout from this place, which makes me curious about how delicious it really is. 🤣
This time, I kept this restaurant on my list while in Hong Kong, and I almost missed it because I didn't have enough appetite! 😆 Fortunately, I managed to eat here at the end!
Even close to closing time, there were quite a few locals dining in. First, you take the menu to your seat, and then a staff member will come to take your order.

🫶🏻 Rice Noodles with Free Choice of Toppings ($65):
The basic rice noodles cost $37, and the price varies depending on the toppings.
This time I chose fish balls, tofu skin, fish tofu, beef balls, and beef.
Each topping was so delicious! 🤤 I will definitely order them again next time!
The fish tofu tastes very similar to the fish tofu at Shi Er Guo.
The beef is the smooth kind, a Hong Kong specialty.
I chose the spicy numbing broth with a spice level of 4 out of 10.
There are nine spice levels, from the least spicy (10 for mild) to extra spicy.
The menu suggests starting with 3 for mild, but I found that 4 was spicier than the usual mild in Taiwan; it was genuinely spicy with real red chili.
Compared to ho fun, the rice noodles have a chewier texture. I really wish there were similar places in Taiwan!
🐔 Robber Chicken Wings (5 pieces) ($35):
The skin was incredibly crispy!
The seasoning leans towards salty with a hint of cumin—very tasty!
I initially thought five pieces might be too much, but they soon disappeared from the table. 🥰

Would I revisit? Yes!
