This time I came to eat at Ryuka Ramen near Okinawa's Kokusai Dori. This ramen shop is somewhat popular locally, and quite a few Taiwanese people know about it. However, from my observation, there are also many local Japanese customers, so it’s not just a place for tourists.

I ordered the NO.1 ramen on the menu. I'm not entirely sure about the exact name, but it seems to be a tonkotsu (pork bone) broth with black garlic oil. The overall flavor is rich but not overly salty, and the aroma of the black garlic adds a nice complexity; the broth is definitely the highlight of the dish. The noodles are on the firmer side, with a bit of bite to them, which I personally find acceptable. However, the toppings were a bit sparse, and the chashu wasn’t particularly delicious, but overall, it was still above average.

My wife ordered the scallion tuna don, which was on the bland side. However, they have a variety of sauces available on the table that you can add yourself, including some spicy sauce, soy sauce, seasoning powder, and mustard. After we adjusted the flavors a bit ourselves, it ended up being more enjoyable.

We also ordered the Agu pork gyoza, but that was the most ordinary dish of the day. The outer skin was cooked decently, but the filling was a bit meager and tasted mild, lacking any memorable flavor.

Overall, Ryuka is a good ramen shop with a distinctive broth, clean space, and a very friendly owner who greets customers proactively, creating a warm atmosphere. One interesting detail is that their seaweed has an illustration of the owner printed on it, which is very cute and a nice little touch.

In summary, the meals at Ryuka are generally good, and you won’t encounter any disappointments. As an option for a hot bowl of noodles near Kokusai Dori, it's quite a nice choice.
