Arriving at Taichung's Yizhong Street, how can one miss the legendary Yizhong Hao Da Chicken Steak? This store has consistently maintained its popularity; although there are quite a few people, the queue moves fairly quickly, so waiting isn't too difficult.
This time I originally ordered the mild spicy chicken steak, but after taking a bite, I felt it wasn't flavorful enough, so I immediately asked the staff to upgrade it to the spicy version. Sure enough, the increased spiciness made a noticeable difference. The chicken steak is indeed quite large, and the flavor is average—not stunning, but also not disappointing, making it a safe choice.
Besides the chicken steak, I also ordered the hackberry fish and fried creek shrimp, but both were just mediocre. There weren't any particularly salty or crispy memories associated with them; they tasted rather bland and lacked a strong character.
Overall, this chicken steak shop is more suitable as a tasting experience for newcomers visiting Yizhong Street. Although the flavors aren’t outstanding, they also won’t let you down. If there’s no queue and you're curious about the taste of a famous chicken steak shop, it’s still worth a try.
