Recently, I wasn't sure what to eat. While browsing, I came across this restaurant with quite a few good reviews, and since it happens to be "rice-based dishes," which I love, I decided to check it out!
The most famous dishes here are the pork lard egg rice and the shrimp rice. As someone who struggles with choice, of course, I ordered… both!
Pork Lard Egg Rice (Medium) 40 NT$
This bowl is simply bursting with fragrance! It only has simple ingredients — egg, rice, and pork lard — plus a bit of soy sauce and garlic sauce, yet it’s so delicious that you just can’t stop eating it.
The first bite is incredibly impressive, but towards the end, it feels a bit oily, so I recommend pairing it with some vegetables to balance it out.
🦐 Shrimp Rice (Medium) 40 NT$
The moment the boss opened the rice cooker, my entire nasal cavity was filled with the aroma, and I immediately decided to order a portion!
It has a texture somewhat like fried rice, with a savory but fragrant flavor. While it is a bit oily, I definitely want to come back for this dish; it’s really memorable!
🥬 Blanched Greens (Water Spinach) 40 NT$
The portion is quite generous, and the seasoning is good. It goes well to offset the oiliness of the main dishes.
To summarize:
Pork Lard Egg Rice: So fragrant it brought tears to my eyes, but a bit oily. 🤣
Shrimp Rice: On the salty side but super fragrant; I want to eat it again!
Greens: A good option if you want to add some vegetables; great value!
