# Open During the New Year

Open from Little New Year's Eve (January 27) until the second day of the Lunar New Year (January 30), resuming business on the third day (January 31). (Closed on Saturdays)

Niu Yi Noodles is located in the New Taipei City, near the Xindian district, between the Dapinglin and Qizhang MRT stations, about a 10-minute walk. The shop is situated in an arcade; the cooking area is outside, and there are about 20 seats inside. It’s your typical snack shop with minimal decorations.

Ordering is done via a paper menu; you mark your selections and hand it to the staff, and you pay after your meal. Cash and street payment options are accepted, but no receipts are given.

I visited during a holiday evening just before closing, and here’s what I ordered:
🔸 Beef Jerky Noodle $75
The beef consists of small shreds rather than large chunks, which is acceptable for this price. The beef is fragrant, soft, and well-seasoned, and although it’s dry noodles, there’s quite a bit of sauce—delicious with a slightly stronger flavor.
🔸 Beef Brisket Rice $100
The brisket is very tender, with carrots and king oyster mushrooms included. The braised sauce is salty and sweet with a hint of spiciness—a perfect match for white rice, and the portion is quite filling.
🔸 Dumplings $7 each
Nothing special about the dumplings, but they are larger than those found in chain stores.
🔸 Vinegar Seasoned Shredded Potatoes $40
Lightly sour shredded potatoes served cold; the mushy texture is quite interesting.
🔸 Blanched Vegetables $40
Includes the rare and relatively expensive baby bok choy, which is great.

Although it’s just an ordinary street-side shop, the quality of the food is quite impressive, and the owner is very friendly. She proactively informs customers about the spiciness of certain dishes not suitable for children and graciously reminds diners to watch out for height differences when entering or exiting. A very kind establishment.
