Dragon Hong Kong Tea Restaurant is located in the alley on Ren'ai Road in Daan District, Taipei City. The nearest MRT station is Xinyi Anhe, Exit 1, about a 5-minute walk. Dragon opened in 2019, and before entering the store, you can see the mouthwatering roasted meats hanging up. The decor uses bright colors, showcasing the streets of Hong Kong.
The ordering method is by filling out a paper menu and paying at the counter, with options for cash and various payment methods.
Weekday lunchtime is a popular time, and a fixed booth along the wall requires four people to be seated. After we placed our order, the entire restaurant quickly filled with customers. The meals arrived very quickly, with minimal waiting time. The restaurant also offers free iced lemon water.
Thoughts on the dishes:
🔸 Duck Leg Rice
The duck leg is huge! The skin has a nice shiny color, but the roasted meat could use a bit more warmth. The meat part is great, but the side dishes are quite meager; it was just missing peas to make a three-bean combination (?)
🔸 Sweet and Sour Shrimp Noodle Stir-fry
The color is super orange! Orange to the point of being alarming, but the flavor is quite good. The stir-fried noodles have a bit of a firm texture, and the sweet and sour sauce is tangy and sweet, making it very appetizing. The portion is large, leaving you feeling satisfied after eating.
🔸 Fortune Mixed Platter
There are 7 types of meat to choose 3 from, and the price is a bit high. We chose sausage, roasted meat, and char siu. Except for the sausage, which was average, both the roasted meat and the char siu were quite good.
The main dishes performed well overall; the meat is pricey but in generous portions. If you're not concerned about price, you can order those. The small dishes have a lower value-for-price ratio, but overall, it’s a place worth trying.
