IG is going viral for the century-old fried rice cakes at Jinlong Restaurant, located in the Xinhua Old Street business district of Tainan. There are long queues every day, and this time-honored establishment has been in operation since 1921, boasting over a hundred years of history. It is now in its fifth generation, and the business is still thriving. This is the nostalgic taste that everyone has grown up with.
Today is Sunday, so I came to pay homage. I waited in line for about half an hour before it was my turn. Each person orders at least ten; the person in front of me bought 30 at once 🤣. The wait is definitely long.
Since there is only one person frying the rice cakes and the stove is quite small, it takes some time to get your order. The rice cake itself has a very soft and chewy texture. You can choose whether or not to add peanut powder. The rice cake is already sweet on its own, so adding the peanut powder makes it even sweeter, but it adds a wonderful peanut fragrance that is very enticing. If you like sweet things, you should give it a try.
