This Korean restaurant is very popular. When we arrived, there were already many people waiting outside. Looking up, the sign has the symbol of a "big house," which is the meaning of the restaurant's name, Kunjip.
The interior of the restaurant is decorated like a prestigious palace. Upon seeing the menu, the prices are also a bit high-end. There are many dishes I wanted to order. Although I love grilled items and bibimbap, I wanted to try their signature tofu soup rice, which is also more affordable. I chose the seafood set. The tofu was ordered with a mild spicy flavor, accompanied by purple rice. Knowing that Korean meals come with side dishes, I didn't order any appetizers (like glass noodles or pancakes).
After drinking hot barley tea and chatting for a while, the delicious set arrived.
(1) Side dishes: There was abalone (not refillable), which was very tasty. The other refillable items were also delicious (kimchi, pickled radish, vegetable mashed potatoes, vegetable mayo salad, pickled cucumber strips, pancakes, and stir-fried burdock).
(2) Purple rice: It looked really delicious. I was afraid of getting too full, so I packed the whole bowl.
(3) Tofu soup: I usually don't eat spicy food, but the mild spicy tofu soup was quite to my liking, with the cucumber adding more flavor.
(4) Seafood: scallops, octopus, crab meat, and shrimp (peeled). Very delicious.
(5) Dessert: The complimentary nut jelly was delightful. Luckily, it was just one bite, as eating more would have made it hard to control blood sugar.
This seafood tofu soup rice set is truly worth it! Delicious and high-end goodness indeed. There are still many great dishes, and I’ll have to come back many times to try them all!
