It’s really hard to find a restaurant in Xinyi District on a holiday night if you don’t have a restaurant reservation! I saw that there were still many empty seats at the entrance of Hua Yue Lan in Village Roadshow, so I decided to come and eat there.
(But the staff was overwhelmed, and there was still a long queue to order! No one sat down at those empty seats until we left)
It took about 20-30 minutes to order online after we were seated. The interface was quite confusing because the names were similar, and there was an additional 10% service charge!
In my mind, Kagetsu Arashi was a popular ramen brand back then. It was mostly sold in department stores and the price was on the high side (300 for a bowl). Later, I got to know many other more famous ramen, so I haven’t eaten it for a long time.
The spicy soup has a strong taste, and the minced garlic is spread all over the bowl. As soon as you eat it, you know that it will be super smelly when you burp it! But if you like garlic flavor, you will find it very refreshing! The noodles are a bit firm, which is my favorite texture, and the rich soup is quite delicious⋯
Although there were five slices of barbecued pork, it was on the thin side and I finished it accidentally. The egg actually comes with half a hard-boiled egg, and other ingredients include dried bamboo shoots, chopped green onions, and seaweed.
What was more shocking was that towards the end of the meal, I found that the noodles were all lumpy and not boiled. There was really something wrong with the quality control on a holiday night😅
I told the waiter about it, and he asked if he would like to serve me a new bowl. I said it didn’t matter and I couldn’t eat it anymore (I meant I couldn’t eat the new bowl. I wonder if he misunderstood something...)
He said he would take it in and show it to the kitchen, and then another guy came out and said he would give me a 10% discount, and where is my noodles? The clerk said that it had been thrown away... The store clerk was dumbfounded at the moment and didn't ask me. The most important last bite was suddenly separated forever... It made me feel very, very, very bad. . .
