Actually, this restaurant in Chiang Mai, Thailand 🇹🇭 doesn't seem to be well-known by many locals... When I asked the driver 🚗 to take us there, he had never heard of the restaurant before. When we arrived, I found that about half the people eating there were actually other Asians from outside the area! I think it was probably introduced on Xiaohongshu or Instagram that led us there. Fortunately, the restaurant is quite easy to find. Once you go in, you grab a menu yourself, find a seat, and after choosing your dishes 🍜, just hand your order to the waiter!
Overall, the service isn't particularly enthusiastic, but the restaurant is just like a casual street food spot, so there’s no need to expect too much!
We ordered:
❤️Vietnamese style noodle: Although it’s called Vietnamese flavored 🍜 noodles, I didn't actually encounter this style of noodle in Vietnam a few months ago. This dish is somewhat like a more refined type of rice vermicelli; the flavor is done really well, and the vermicelli has a bit of taste. It's especially chewy and springy—personally, I really like the slightly salty and sweet balance of the broth!
❤️Boiled rice soup: This dish was actually very liked by my friend. He really put the rice in to soak in the soup to make a rice soup 🍚. For someone who usually enjoys rice with soup, this should be quite delightful because the broth is indeed very fragrant and pairs perfectly with the rice, making it easy to finish an entire serving!
❤️Thai custard dip: This is supposedly the signature dish, but I feel it’s just as others have commented... there's really nothing very special about it. Although it consists of four different ingredients for the dip, aside from the matcha flavor being more prominent, the others just taste sweet. While it somewhat resembles a honey toast dessert 🍞 when paired with toast, I wouldn’t go back to the restaurant specifically for this dish; rather, I think the snacks are tastier!
Overall, if I happen to pass by again, I would probably stop in to try some snacks, but I wouldn't specifically travel from the Nimmanhaemin area to dine at that place!
