【Foodholic Niko @ Orchid Island】
"Orchid Island A-Dong Flying Fish Bun" is located in the Coconut Oil Village, which is quite lively, filled with many restaurants and shops. The storefront is small and starts operating at 11 a.m. We arrived around 11:10, and the place was already packed, so we had to share a table with others.
Looking through the menu, the prices of every dish are not very cheap, and even the fried rice costs over a hundred, but since obtaining ingredients on Orchid Island is not that easy, the prices will naturally be a bit higher. As long as the food is delicious, I think it's acceptable.
Flying Fish Roe Fried Rice $180
It actually looks like regular egg fried rice with flying fish roe added, but I would call it tasty fried rice; personally, I think it’s because they added a lot of green onions, which adds extra points! Although the price is steep, I would still recommend it!
Flying Fish Roe Bun $160
Compared to the fried rice, a bun costing almost $200 was a bit shocking! When it was served, I was further surprised because it had a TON of fish flakes, and it was very large, making it difficult to figure out how to eat it, haha. Besides the fish flakes and the overwhelming amount of fish roe that might trigger trypophobia, there are also lettuce and onions inside, topped with yellow mustard sauce, which I quite liked. A minor downside is that it’s a bit oily and can get messy.
If two people are dining and want to try both the fried rice and the bun, I recommend just ordering one of each because we ordered two fried rices and one bun, and we ended up too full!
I’ve heard that this restaurant's chili sauce is exceptional, but since one of the friends dining with us wasn't feeling well that day, we skipped the chili sauce. Watching the customers next door eating it made it seem delicious, so those who can handle spicy food might want to give it a try!
