"Yu Chocolatier" is named after the founder and chef Zheng Yuxuan. The word "Yu" (畬) sounds like "you" and means fertile fields nourished by mountains over the years, naturally giving rise to bountiful beauty. The establishment focuses on taste, presenting the essence of exquisite chocolate and the beauty of diverse local ingredients. Since its founding in 2015, it has integrated Eastern and Western cultures, won multiple international awards, and continuously explored and created chocolate with an international vocabulary here in Taiwan. Come to Yu Chocolatier and rediscover chocolate.
The first floor of Yu Chocolatier features a counter displaying chocolate desserts and a central island; on the left are tables and chairs for four people, and on the right are high stools for two. Although the overall space is not large, its design showcases a spacious and comfortable atmosphere. I think my favorite part is in front of the dessert counter, where every dessert looks like a stunning work of art, making it hard to decide and irresistible to keep looking even after going back to my seat.
The menu at Yu Chocolatier offers French chocolate desserts, including sweet treats from the dessert counter, French chocolate drinks: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, freshly brewed single cups of tea, Taiwanese Kung Fu tea, and spirits.
Chocolate set: Two varieties of filled chocolates + freshly brewed single cup of tea for NT$330.
Eighteen types of chocolate can introduce foreigners to Taiwan (six types developed for the 2018 Paris Chocolate Exhibition):
Jasmine, Ma Gao, Rice Wine, Kumquat Lemon, Brown Sugar Ginger, Black Gold Peanut, Yu, Taiwan, Classic Oolong, Ruby Red Tea, Four Seasons Honey, Passionfruit Ginger Blossom, Ginger Raspberry, Yi Jian Mei, Pepper Mango, Soy Sauce, Charcoal Roasted Sesame Oil, Sherry Longan.
Let's eat!
【Shibusa】Signature Dark Chocolate Cake NT$230
LUNA thinks this dessert is a must-order.
The first thing that attracted me was the glossy ganache, then moving on to the chocolate cake, cocoa crunch, and rich chocolate mousse, experiencing various flavors of wood, smoke, and nuts. The cocoa is anything but monotonous; each bite's softness and delicacy playfully tease the smooth silkiness of the chocolate, providing different layers of experience in one cake.
🔺 Another Spring NT$260 a cup
The hot chocolate is mixed with MEUKOW VSOP Cognac, and as the chocolate and alcohol gradually merge, the vanilla and wood fragrances elevate the deliciousness of the hot chocolate, making each sip increasingly enjoyable. It’s really a first-time life experience to describe a cup of hot chocolate with alcohol as comfy.
Its smoothness makes you hesitate to take another sip, wanting to savor every drop that can be preserved.
Thoughts: If anyone used to say chocolate is just chocolate, they really need to try the chocolates here. Each bite feels luxurious, like a piece of art, with the appearance, texture, and flavor being exceptional, up to this point.
Emphasis on meal: Shibusa is indeed a must-order.
Emphasis on environment: Clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed.
Emphasis on parking: For motorcycles: parking available at the entrance; for cars: parking available at HaoTing Da'an Parking Lot.
Emphasis on toilets: There is one clean, shared toilet for both genders.
Emphasis on queuing: Very fast, hardly any wait.
Emphasis on service: Ordinary.
Attention to cost-performance ratio: 🌟🌟🌟 (simply discussing food and price).
