For our first meal when we arrived at the Matera Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we found a restaurant that looked like a grotto cave. In fact, most of the guests chose to sit outdoors, but we were almost fainted by the bright sunshine in Matera, so Choose to sit indoors
The indoor lighting is quite dim and there is no air conditioning, but maybe because it is a grotto, it is not very hot and there is a natural cooling
Fresh pasta with tomato sauce, crumbled pork sausage, cardoncelli mushrooms €12
The noodles are made of cat ear noodles. This dish tastes very Taiwanese, which is a compliment and I like it! The tomato sauce is very fresh, and the minced pork sausage is a bit similar to Taiwanese pork jerky. It is paired with chopped mushrooms (maybe king oyster mushrooms? Or similar, but the taste is very similar). It goes very well. I recommend this dish!
ps Matera seems to be very famous for its cat ear noodles, so come here to try it~
Fresh pasta with caclocavallo cheese cream, pistachios and cruschi peppers €13
The noodle is made of wide water tube noodles. I originally expected the pistachio flavor to be stronger, but the main flavor is white sauce. Although the milk flavor is very fragrant, the pistachio and chili flavors are not prominent, so the overall taste is a bit monotonous and empty.
Baked potatoes €4
This dish is just a simple baked potato, without anything else, but it is quite delicious when baked. The outer skin actually tastes a bit like Taiwanese barbecue sauce. I don’t know how it was made.
Overall, I think the meal is about 70 points. There are a lot of restaurants in Matera, so it’s probably pretty good and you can eat it or not.
