I didn’t want to eat meat for lunch today, so I came to the vegetarian buffet! This "San Lai Vegetarian Restaurant" is located near the city market, about a 10-minute walk from Taipei Main Station, Ximen Station, and National Taiwan University Hospital Station. There are many customers during lunch time on weekdays.
There are indoor seating areas here, both on the first and second floors, but today I took takeout to the office to eat with Netflix~
The dishes are really dazzling, and there are so many varieties. I estimate that there are more than 50 kinds. I’m not afraid of not being able to choose what I want to eat. I saw quite a lot of people who were interested in it.
Prices here are mainly based on weight. You can pick up as much or as little as you want. However, some items have unit prices. For example, spring rolls and organic alfalfa sprout rolls are $25 for one piece and $60 for three pieces. Steamed buns $55, spicy stinky tofu $65, vegetarian bento $85
I just grab what I want to eat when I see it. Each portion is not much, maybe 1-2 bites or 1-2 pieces. The items include: cabbage, asparagus, cauliflower, shredded burdock, braised tofu, fried Tofu, fried rice, carrot cake, fried sweet potatoes, shiitake mushrooms, unknown vegetarian fried food, etc., the final weighing total was $104
I think I am a girl who eats a lot. I filled a lunch box like this without adding any extra rice. I felt quite full after eating it. Maybe it’s because I included a lot of starch products 😂 and almost every dish was included. They are all delicious, and nothing is too bad!
The items that I personally highly recommend are: fried sweet potatoes, carrot cakes, and tofu. They are filling and delicious. I only picked one of each and was a bit unsatisfied.
The small disadvantage is that it is a bit oily. After taking one bite, I want to wipe my mouth and drink water from time to time.
Overall, the prices here are not very cheap, but they are not too expensive either. They are acceptable. The items are diverse and the taste is pretty good. If a friend asks me if I have any recommended vegetarian restaurants around here, I will probably Recommend this one
