Chen Kee Canteen is located on Jiefang Street in Hualien City.
The store looks a little small, so you might miss it inadvertently when passing by.
Today we enjoyed beef and egg fried rice, beef hot pot udon noodles, stir-fried vegetables and spicy conch meat, totaling NT$350.
Beef and egg fried rice:
The stir-frying skills are strong and the pot feels full of flavor when eaten. The fried rice is very fluffy and the beef portion is not too small. The overall portion is very large and quite satisfying.
Beef Hot Pot Udon Noodles:
The texture of the udon noodles is very elastic, and the soup base is relatively light, but it is not bland and tasteless, but has a very comfortable, refreshing and smooth soup taste.
The portions are huge.
Stir-fried vegetables:
Unfortunately, it’s cabbage, which I don’t usually eat.
The cabbage is well fried but not too soft, and has a pretty good texture. I don't eat it very often, but overall it's quite delicious.
Spicy snail meat:
A small plate of side dishes, snail meat with shredded onions. Although common, it is still an impressive combination.
The combination of fresh and elastic snail meat with freshly cut onions, plus some spiciness, is really delicious.
Overall, the most admirable thing about this store is that it is open until five in the morning. The overall taste is quite satisfactory, but during the opening hours, it will be the first choice for many Hualien people who want to eat late night snacks.
The turtles in the aquarium in the store are very cute.
Also, the portions are really big.
Recommended to everyone.
