Kaohsiung has been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand for the Beef King Shabu-Shabu restaurant, which has now opened in Pingtung! They combine local fresh beef with shabu-shabu, insisting on not selling overnight meat, and they are quite strict with their ingredients. Every day, they make their beef bone broth, which is really clear and sweet.
The beef cooks in just five seconds and is incredibly delicious. The sweetness of the beef perfectly blends with the broth, making it super fresh and tender. I honestly feel there's no need to specially go to Tainan for beef soup anymore—this place can fulfill that craving. They also stay open until midnight, which is really thoughtful.
Here, there's not only hot pot but also stir-fried beef dishes. The sesame oil dishes are mind-blowingly fragrant, and it's no exaggeration to say I could easily take down two bowls of rice.
If you're brave enough to eat offal, this is the place to order it. It has to be fresh to eat it this way. Just a quick dip in the broth makes the crunchy crunchy and the soft soft. I really highly recommend it.
