🚩Old Friends Restaurant: A long-established shop has been refurbished and is welcoming new heights.

📍Location and Transportation: Old Friends is located in the East District of Taipei City, between Zhongxiao Fuxing and Zhongxiao Dunhua. Take the escalator from Exit 12 of the underground street, turn right, and you'll arrive. Nearby is a parking lot at Fuxing High School, just a 3-minute walk away.

🏠Space: There are plenty of seats, the space is bright, and the decor combines light and dark wood tones, with solid wood tables and dark leather dining chairs. They offer tables for 4-6 people, and considerate seating with partitions is available for solo diners, making the overall space spacious and well-lit.

💰Ordering and Payment: The menu is available at the counter, and orders are placed there after which you can settle the bill after dining. Only cash payments are accepted. Invoice and receipts are unavailable.

The various roasted meats are mostly above average, making it a tasty spot.

💭Summary:
Old Friends has been in the East District for a very long time; I visited when I was younger 🙃 and it felt like a popular home-style restaurant back then. After the renovation in 2019, the business is still thriving, with many customers queuing at the entrance for dine-in and take-out.
I visited for lunch today and waited 10 minutes to be seated. The owner generously sponsored a platter and fried items, allowing us to eat our fill of meat😍.
Since they were serving a lot of customers at once, the speed of service was not very well managed; I only received the noodles 10 minutes after the roasted meat platter arrived. It's advisable to order rice to be served at the same time.
I also suggest that larger groups order a shared platter for enjoyment; ordering a single dish can feel a bit lacking.

Chao Lian Roast Duck Noodles $155 This plate only has the meat portion. The color of the roast duck skin is beautiful, but the meat is a bit tough. The meat is not cut into many pieces, and there are quite a few bones. If you order a single portion, you might feel that the quantity is not enough.

Self-selected mixed noodle $165 (They serve the meat platter first) There are 7 types of meat to choose from This platter includes oil chicken + duck liver Oil chicken is the basic option, the flavor is acceptable The duck liver is not too powdery, and my colleagues gave it positive reviews.

Self-selected Three Treasure Platter $360 Roast Pork, Imperial Concubine Chicken, Char Siu The roast pork is fragrant and very crispy, highly praised. The Imperial Concubine Chicken has a refreshing texture and tender meat. The Char Siu tastes ordinary and lacks memorable points.

Compare the portions of various meats. The platter can choose from seven types of meat, excluding the sausages. Six different types of meat have been ordered. The free soup for dine-in is in the upper right; it tastes okay. They added a lot of pepper but no ingredients.

Fried rice rolls (chee cheong fun) $95

The rice roll is filled with fried dough sticks. The skin is soft and the dough sticks are crispy, as the boss ordered. It's suitable for sharing among multiple people just to have a taste. I don't recommend ordering it alone; it's too expensive and feels empty just to eat one.

I've almost eaten enough meat, and the tossed noodles finally arrived at the table. The noodles lack a good chew and break apart easily, making it hard to mix well with the oyster sauce. The tossed noodles are 25 yuan more expensive than rice, which I wouldn't personally recommend. (Although the portion is relatively large.)
