"Remember Taiwan Snacks Nanzi Chaoming Store" used to be a great place for Taiwanese snacks when I worked near Nanzi Station. Their braised pork rice has always been satisfying, especially when paired with their chili oil, which had a truly good flavor, with the greasy aroma of the braised pork rice and the spiciness of the chili oil leaving a lasting impression. However, I was a bit disappointed during this revisit as I found that the delicious chili oil was gone, replaced by an ordinary chili sauce that lacked spiciness and aroma, leaving only a salty taste, making the pairing less enjoyable.
The Four Gods Soup, on the other hand, remains rich, generously filled with ingredients like intestines and Job's tears. Although there’s a slight hint of MSG flavor, it doesn’t affect much and is overall acceptable. The blanched vegetables and braised eggs are excellent side dish options, with the blanched vegetables being simple and refreshing, pairing wonderfully with the braised pork rice.
Overall, despite the slight disappointment with the chili oil change, this store's braised pork rice and Four Gods Soup are still good local snack choices, especially for a homely, satisfying meal. People living nearby should enjoy the simple deliciousness here.
