Let’s start with the conclusion: it’s delicious and you don’t have to wait in line for too long.
Today I visited Menya Ikei. I was among the first batch of people to enter the store about 10 to 20 minutes before it opened at noon on Saturday. After entering the store, I went to the vending machine to order food and handed it to the counter. The meal was served in a few minutes. It was full. Fast.
I chose the Tonkotsu Salt Flavor Special, which has more eggs and chicken than the regular ones. The soup is rich but not greasy, the noodles are hard and chewy, the chicken is thick but tender, the barbecued pork is full of large pieces, and the taste is very fragrant. I am very satisfied with the whole bowl of noodles.
The portion size is enough for me, but if you have a bigger appetite, you can order a bowl of barbecued pork rice. I heard it is worth a try.
