Belgium has several lovely cities beyond its capital Brussels, and Ghent, where Du Progres is located, is one of them. The well-preserved medieval castle bell tower, combined with modern street trams, interweave old and new scenery to create a city with historical heritage and comfort that you can imagine. A city for people to settle in.
Waterzooi (chicken stew with vegetable cream) is a dish that originated in Ghent. The chicken itself does not have a strong flavor and is relatively dry. It feels like it should be chicken breast (? But it is still good to eat it with vegetables dipped in cream sauce. If the cream can be stewed with the chicken, it will be more delicious!
Stoverij varkenswangetjes (Stewed Pork Cheeks) The meat is quite soft when stewed, but I personally think the pork is a bit fishy. Fortunately, there is a plate of vegetables to relieve the greasiness.
Visvingers tartaarsaus (fish fillet with tartar sauce) is an appetizer, which is ordinary but not oily when fried. The appetizers are served very quickly, but the main meal has to wait for a long time. Fortunately, there is a fish fillet scene at this time😅
There are many beer brands to choose from, and they will also be paired with corresponding beer glasses. I like Jupiler the best. It tastes quite like Taiwanese beer (it also has a similar status in Belgium). It is refreshing, not bitter and very smooth~
Du Progres is located in the Grain Plaza. The location is easy to find, and the waiter’s attitude is also very good. The price is a bit expensive, but you can still come and experience it~
