#Taipei Grand Hotel
#Jinghua Xuan
It's been a long time since I visited the Zhongshan District. After celebrating the Lunar New Year, I thought I’d take a chance by heading to the Grand Hotel's [Jinghua Xuan] for lunch on a weekday. I got lucky; there was one group of no-shows, and I was unexpectedly able to dine there.
Jinghua Xuan is renowned for its new-style Cantonese cuisine and is a Michelin recommended restaurant recognized with the OAD Asian Top 100 award in recent years.
As for the tea, based on the recommendation from the staff, I ordered the "Concubine Oolong Tea," which indeed has a fragrant aroma and is sweet and smooth to drink.
For the roasted meats, I found the pork a bit dry personally, but the oil chicken was tender and juicy.
The Hong Kong-style braised beef ribs in Zhu Hou sauce: I heard this is a classic dish; it utilizes a unique Guangdong seasoning sauce paired with well-braised beef ribs, resulting in a special rich aroma.
The Typhoon Shelter fried king prawns: I personally really like the texture here; it's crispy and spicy, and even after eating a lot, it doesn't feel greasy. The king prawns are truly large (I actually forgot to take a photo).
The pan-fried crispy noodles with chives and shredded meat: This dish was ordered out of curiosity since someone had never tried it before, but honestly, it could be skipped.
Overall, this experience was nothing short of wonderful; from the food to the service to the dining environment, it was a beautiful dining experience. It was truly worth the visit!
