Take the opportunity to eat hot pot one more time before the limited-time store visit event ends.
Although it has been warming up these past few days, people in Taiwan can enjoy hot pot all year round! ٩(๑•̀ω•́๑)۶
We went to Shier Hot Pot, located across from the train station. You'll need to take the elevator next to the restaurant to the third floor. On weekdays, around 5 PM, you can go without having to wait in line. The dining area is bright and spacious, and the seating is not too cramped, with plenty of seats available. However, it seems that due to a lack of staff, not all seating options are open recently.
You can order using the QR code on your phone, choosing between a platter with more vegetables (big platter, 14oz of meat) or more meat (small platter, 18oz of meat). We all chose the one with more meat.
The hot pot features a bonito and kelp broth. Personally, I prefer the umami flavor of the kelp broth over vegetable broth.
The spicy hot pot is essentially a numbing and spicy broth. It comes with two pieces of fried dough sticks and is moderately spicy. However, I think Shier's spicy hot pot has flavor but lacks fragrance.
As for the vegetable platter, the only item that counts as hot pot ingredients is the pig's blood cake; the rest are mainly vegetables. However, the vegetables didn’t look that fresh.
On the meat side, the portion is quite generous, and I felt full after eating. The quality is just average.
If you visit Shier Hot Pot, you definitely have to try their winter melon lemonade slush. It's on the sweeter side but pairs well with hot pot, perfect for cutting through the greasiness! (๑•̀ᄇ•́)و ✧
