🔥 Chuan Zui Xiang Spicy Hot Pot
📍 No. 178, Section 1, Shen Nong Road, Yilan City, Yilan County
🕕 18:00–01:00 (Closed on Sundays)
🥵 This was my first challenge with a small level of spiciness, and I broke into a slight sweat, but thankfully the air conditioning was strong enough to handle it! The broth has a fragrant blend of Chinese herbs; it’s neither greasy nor overly salty, and there’s a hint of sweetness in the aftertaste—surprisingly delicious.
🍜 The hand-pulled udon noodles are the standard type that you usually see, with an average texture, paired with slices of pork, taro strips, lotus root, shiitake mushrooms, and baby bok choy among 11 different ingredients. Finishing the bowl left me quite full. Each ingredient complemented each other well, with no unpleasant surprises, and the cooking was spot-on.
🧊 The duck blood and tofu are served in a separate bowl; it’s a bit salty but very flavorful, and the tofu was well-seasoned and not dry—definitely a memorable combination overall.
💰 The total came to 290 NT dollars, with a well-balanced selection of items. The environment is clean and bright, the ingredients are clearly categorized, and the payment methods are very modern (supporting StreetPay, AllPay, and LINE Pay) 👍
If you like spicy food but don't want to be overwhelmed by oil and smoke, you should definitely try this herbal spicy hot pot!
