Recently popular egg tart bakery in Hong Kong 🇭🇰🥯

A lot of egg tart shops have opened in Hong Kong lately, and Bakehouse seems to be the first one that became popular. Everyone who goes to Hong Kong has to bring some back to Taiwan (note that you need to carry it on the plane!).

It has even become so well-known in Taiwan that quarantine officers recognize the bags as egg tarts just by looking at them, haha. You will need to open a box of egg tarts for customs to inspect.

Bakehouse has many branches, and I read that the Causeway Bay location is the one that doesn’t require much waiting. This time, aside from a short 5-minute wait on the weekend, there wasn’t much of a line on weekdays. However, it meant that I got to eat egg tarts that weren’t freshly baked but had cooled down.

In addition to egg tarts, this shop also sells a wide variety of European breads. I bought a chocolate cookie 🍪, which was very tasty! It was thick and had a rich texture.

I was also very interested in many kinds of bread that I couldn’t bring back to Taiwan! Unfortunately, I was too full while in Hong Kong 😆

🫓 Sourdough Egg Tart ($12.5):
I highly recommend trying the freshly baked ones! You can enjoy the crispy layers of flaky pastry.
The filling has a creamy texture and a strong egg flavor.

Even I, who normally doesn’t eat egg tarts, unconsciously finished an entire one 🤣
