I visited Jin Lao Daddy’s Hong Kong style tea shop today. There were so many people on holidays that I had to queue up to eat. As soon as you enter the door, the store will serve you a pot of tea, which tastes like Pu'er tea. It is refreshing and not bitter, and is quite thirst-quenching.
Cured meat claypot rice - 150 yuan 🍛
The cured claypot rice is generally oily, and the rice at the bottom is almost soaked in oil. The bacon tastes moderately salty and has a rich aroma, while the sauce tastes slightly sweet. Overall, the price is a bit high, but by Hong Kong-style tea drinking standards, it's still reasonable.
Steamed chicken feet with satay - NT$65 🐔
The steamed chicken feet in satay has a slightly spicy taste, moderate saltiness, and a very fragrant taste, a bit like the flavor of sand tea. This dish does not need to be served with rice and can also be eaten on its own.
Beef Siomai - NT$80 🥟
The beef siomai ingredients are real, the whole piece is beef, no fish paste is added. However, there are only three siomai for NT$80, which makes it taste a little empty, but considering the Hong Kong price, it is still reasonable.
Shrimp fried rice - 150 yuan 🍤🍚
The shrimp fried rice is quite filling and not soy sauce colored. It feels like pepper and bacon are used as the source of seasoning. The overall saltiness is moderate, but like the previous clay pot rice, it is oily. Maybe this is a characteristic of Hong Kong cuisine.
Three-color steamed dumplings - 80 yuan 🥟
The three-color steamed dumplings have three different fillings: the green ones are leek and shrimp, the yellow ones are pork fillings, and the white ones should be celery and pork fillings. All tasted very good.
Fried spring rolls with chives - RMB 80 🥢
The fried spring rolls with chives are very filling and full of gravy after biting into them. This dish gave me a big surprise. It is very different from the fried spring rolls in Taiwan. It is the most surprising dish of this meal, although it is also a bit oily. .
Overall, Jin Lao Daddy's Hong Kong-style tea drinking is more suitable for parties. The food tastes good and the portions are moderate. However, there is something to be noted about the excessive amount of oil. 😊🍽️
