First meal in Yilan!
#Jingxin Teppanyaki
Meal
Garlic Pork Chop (Dry)
The pork chop is topped with plenty of dried garlic, served with green onions. The meat is tender and easy to chew, and the chef’s seasoning isn't overly strong. Although it looks quite salty, the taste is actually the opposite; the abundance of garlic adds a different flavor.
Side Dishes
Standard side dishes of bean sprouts and cabbage, which look a bit salty but taste refreshing and aren’t overwhelmingly salty. The preparation of the vegetables surprised me; they were unexpectedly good.
Soup
Seaweed tofu egg flower soup? The flavor isn’t too strong, and it’s quite tasty. However, when I first ladled the soup, it had what seemed to be meat floating on top from cooking the broth? It was a bit off-putting, though many people might enjoy it?
Service
It may have been during break time, but the servers and chefs were dressed the same, making it hard to distinguish who was who. There wasn’t much service; I’d have to deduct half a star for that. If the place was busy, I could understand, but seeing a group of people standing by, discussing business or training newcomers, it would have been better to at least provide some basic responses.
Environment
I really don’t understand how so many employees don’t realize that the teppanyaki counter serves as the storefront? The tables were greasy, with plates, lots of used napkins in the drawers, and food particles all over the floor. I want to add my personal opinion; it’s been a long time since I’ve had a meal where I felt uneasy due to the cleanliness—it was simply too dirty! I’ll deduct a star for this.
Personal Review
The food was well-cooked and delicious. However, the environment and service are all part of the experience; I wouldn’t want to dine here again, and I hope to have a better experience elsewhere.
