Located at Taipei Songshan Airport, Subway is conveniently situated with clear traffic flow, making it a great option for many travelers to quickly have a meal before boarding. Although it's a chain brand, the high volume of people at the airport and fast table turnover keep the store looking relatively clean and tidy. There's also a dine-in area where patrons can sit down and enjoy their food at a more leisurely pace, unlike typical takeout places that tend to be rushed. This time, I ordered the newly launched flavor - Spicy Douban Beef, which sounds very much like a Taiwanese element, making me curious about its taste.

As soon as I took a bite of the Spicy Douban Beef, I could smell the unique aroma of the doubanjiang (fermented bean paste), which is richer than the usual Subway flavors. The portion of beef meatballs is moderate; it's not overflowing but also not lacking. Coupled with the doubanjiang, it adds a savory taste with a hint of spiciness. The spiciness isn't overwhelming, but personally, I felt that the dish was a bit too watery, giving the sauce a somewhat industrial taste.

For the bread, I chose the honey oat, and overall, it still had that familiar Subway flavor, just with added Taiwanese elements, which is a nice little surprise for regular customers. If you're looking for something familiar and less risky to eat before your flight, this is a pretty good choice.
