Chenji Zhuangyuan Porridge can be regarded as a long-standing restaurant in Hualien. The store is located near the Dongdamen Night Market in Hualien. Before the epidemic, the way to order food in the past was to order directly at the intersection when you first entered the store, looking at the food. The clerk helped to pick it up. The ordering method has changed a bit this time, but I still like the previous ordering method.
The price is really expensive for Hualien. The important thing is that there is a 10% service charge. There is no water, I have to get the cup by myself, the tissue paper, the dishes and chopsticks by myself...
The barbecued pork in the San Bao rice has a bland taste. It seems that there is no sauce, but the white rice is covered with sauce? In short, if you are expecting the same barbecue flavor as you would get from a regular barbecue restaurant, you may be disappointed because it lacks the delicious flavor of the sauce.
I prefer porridge and milk-baked cabbage.
The shrimp beancurd skin is small but very solid and delicious.
I don’t recommend the shrimp rice rolls. The shrimps are big but tasteless.
The decor deserves a thumbs up...very antique, so that's a bonus.
