A new soybean milk shop has opened on Zhongxing Street in Zhonghe, with operating hours from evening to morning. The menu offers a variety of choices, and the environment features semi-outdoor seating. Because it has just opened, it attracts quite a few people eager to try it, so you may have to wait during meal times, and the staff seems to be quite flustered. On the day we dined in, we ordered scallion pancakes with egg (45 TWD), creamy condensed milk French toast (40 TWD), radish cake with egg (50 TWD), leek pockets (35 TWD), sesame bun with egg crepe (45 TWD), plain egg crepe (25 TWD), as well as sweet soybean milk and regular soybean milk (each 30 TWD).
When the food arrived, the overall performance was disappointing. The sesame bun was neither hot nor aromatic, the scallion pancake had a noticeable floury taste, as if it wasn’t cooked through, and the leek pocket was also cold. The egg crepe was mediocre, and the only thing somewhat better was the steaming radish cake with egg. Overall, it was unsatisfactory and even felt like a rushed quality. Instead, I would prefer to walk a little further to Yonghe Soy Milk on Zhongzheng Road for a more consistent quality. The current performance of this shop is completely uninviting for a return visit.
