"Chen Family Minced Pork Rice" is located on Yongming Road in Yongkang. The competition among fresh fish soup shops in Tainan is fierce, yet this restaurant has not had much of a chance to be tried, so I made a special trip to give it a go. First, about the fish soup: the broth is not particularly problematic, and the fish is fresh, with some simple ingredients included. By Tainan's standards for “fresh fish soup battlegrounds,” it is quite average, but it's not hard to find better and more impressive choices.

As for the minced pork rice, the oil aroma is a bit weak and the seasoning is rather ordinary. Although the rice is cooked well, overall it feels somewhat unremarkable. Regarding the braised egg, it surprisingly costs 15 NT dollars, which is slightly high for a braised egg, so sticking to the principle of "not eating a 15 NT dollar braised egg," I instead ordered the braised fish head, which I usually wouldn't choose.

The braised fish head has quite a few bones, making it a bit troublesome to eat, and it also has a hint of fishy taste. While it's not unacceptable, the experience doesn't particularly stand out. In conclusion, the overall performance neither disappointed nor impressed, but there was nothing especially noteworthy about it. However, after finishing my meal, the two guinea pigs next to the restaurant immediately caught my attention; I must say, I was suddenly startled by them 😆. These two seem to be the shop's pets and have nothing to do with dinner, but they were quite interesting.
