Located next to Tainan Yongnan University of Applied Sciences, "Tainan Yao Tou Medicinal Pork Rib Soup" is said to have originally been a Chinese medicine shop before transitioning to selling medicinal braised pork ribs. However, since I arrived in this area, it has already become a small shop specializing in medicinal pork rib soup. On cold days, coming here to drink a bowl of hot medicinal soup is indeed very warming. The broth has a rich flavor that doesn’t overly taste like Chinese medicine, making it comfortable and enjoyable to drink. The best part is that you can have more soup, which is very considerate.

The performance of the pork rib soup is above average; the meat quality is decent and not overly tough, and it isn't greasy when you drink it. As for the minced pork rice, the flavor is quite ordinary, with no particular highlights; it probably serves as a complement to the main dish. I remember one time I tried the pig trotter soup here, but when I think of pig trotter soup, I can't help but recall a place in Hsinchu where the pig trotters are carefully deboned. When I first came to this place and asked if the pig trotters were deboned, the staff looked at me in disbelief and said, "Of course, the pig trotters have bones!" That expression is deeply etched in my memory, as if I were an idiot, but I really have had boneless ones before…

Overall, this shop's medicinal soup is a good choice, especially when the weather turns cooler; coming here for a warm bowl of soup is just right. Although the overall performance of the meals is stable, not everything is stunning; it’s simply a cozy little shop nearby, so don't expect too much, but it's quite satisfying to enjoy a bowl of soup in winter.
