Conclusion: Super disappointing, not worth the wait at all

Actually, before Ba-Yo and Tea opened in Taipei, I had no idea about this drink shop. I only learned about this so-called "Japanese-style" elegant tea shop from the Japanese police YouTube series by Domino Doro 😂

Recently, they just opened a new branch in San Chong, and the line is like something out of a horror movie every day... There were even people who queued for 8 hours just to get their drinks (just how good could it be?).

When I went to Taichung, I happened to see many branches that hardly had any lines, so I bought a few cups to try... they were truly disappointingly bad.

Here’s my ranking of the drinks from least to most memorable:

  1. Grapefruit Awakening 307
    💣💣💣💣💣 (Disappointment index 5/5)
This is definitely my biggest disappointment!
I ordered it with one sugar and lightly iced.
I thought it would taste like the grapefruit jade from Gui Ji, but instead, with the first sip, I was hit with a strong aroma of bathroom scent.
I couldn’t taste the natural grapefruit juice at all.

And after drinking it, the aftertaste in my mouth was just that fake bathroom scent.
This certainly made me feel “awakened”.

I tried several more sips and thought, if I had spent several hours waiting for this drink, I would be so mad 😡.
And even with one sugar, it was still way too sweet.

  1. Ba-Yo and Tea
    💣💣💣 (Disappointment index 3/5)
A caffeine-free tea, also one of Ba-Yo's signatures, which claims to include five types of grains (such as Cassia seeds, millet, sesame, etc.).
I ordered it unsweetened, and it tasted like watered-down barley tea.
    No memorable points at all.

It feels like other drink shops' caffeine-free barley tea is also decent, so there’s no need to specifically come here for it.

  1. 83 Honey Dew
    💣 (Disappointment index 1/5)
This drink was the best one I tried.
It uses Ba-Yo and Tea as a base with added honey.
You can taste the tea flavor, but it’s very subtle.
At first, it felt like I was completely drinking honey water.
Only later does the buckwheat tea flavor slightly merge in.
The honey itself is good, but it’s pretty much just that—no special fruit or floral aromas.

Overall, I was mostly disappointed after trying these drinks, but on the bright side, I'm glad I didn't wait in that long line. I can only say that Taiwanese people really flock to everything, as if they're always afraid of missing out on something. I don't understand why so many Taiwanese people love to wait in line.
In short, this drink shop is a total fail 💣.
I won't be visiting again!
