Dishes such as the gathering-style Dan Dan noodles, spicy duck blood, and golden kimchi have received positive reviews. The Dan Dan noodles have a rich flavor, the spicy duck blood is ample and flavorful, and although the kimchi is slightly ordinary, the overall presentation and taste are good.
The environment is clean and comfortable, better than expected for a noodle shop, and the decor inside is simple yet cozy.
The staff actively recommend dishes and can provide tasting suggestions, and their service attitude is friendly.
📍Location: Taichung, Taiping
I really wanted to find a nice-looking noodle shop that was also reasonably priced, and after flipping through the map, I found this one!
The deliciousness and cost-performance ratio make me want to return 👍
But the downside here is: it’s really hard to find parking.
I originally just wanted to order a simple $50 sesame sauce noodle,
but when I got to the counter to check out, I discovered other recommended items on the menu, and I immediately changed my mind.
🍴 This time I had:
I initially only wanted to order noodles and kimchi, but the staff strongly recommended the duck blood. Since I was a bit hungry that night, I decided to order more.
In terms of portion size, I feel like adding some side dishes would be more satisfying,
but if you have a small appetite or aren't particularly hungry, a bowl of noodles is enough.
(By the way, I noticed that most customers were ordering side dishes, and aside from the portion, the side dishes are really tasty!)
🍜 Noodles First
The staff said the Dan Dan noodles are a combination of two types of sauces.
Although the photo looks very red, it’s actually not spicy at all.
I felt it was a mix of sesame sauce and a tangy sauce,
a bit like a foolish noodle dish with sesame sauce.
The noodles were very chewy and had a nice texture,
and they were topped generously with crushed peanuts and some kind of seasoning (I couldn't tell what it was), so overall I would give it high marks for flavor and presentation 👍
Perhaps it was too enjoyable, and I personally felt the portion could be a bit larger 😋
🥬 Golden Kimchi
Comparatively, this item was slightly ordinary among the three dishes,
but the kimchi was flavorful, and there was a lot of pumpkin puree, not just a little for decoration.
Overall, it’s not spicy; the chili is more of a garnish.
I personally prefer it to be a bit more tangy, so I feel that regarding “kimchi,” it could use a little more punch.
🍲 Spicy Duck Blood
The duck blood is very fragrant! The soup looks intensely red, but it’s actually only mildly spicy.
The staff might have been worried that I couldn't handle spicy food, so they told me it was on the spicy side.
I can handle a little spice (but if it were any spicier, I might not be able to eat it),
and I feel this dish has a lingering kind of spiciness.
Perhaps I expected it to be very spicy, but in reality, it’s only mildly spicy.
The duck blood pieces are quite large; even someone afraid of spicy food like me can eat a piece directly.
There are a total of 5 big pieces, as you can see in the photo.
So why did I, who am afraid of spicy food, still dare to order it?
Aside from it being a weekend special, the staff mentioned that they were actually sneaking a taste just a moment ago 🤫 (they had just opened not long before).
Now that we’ve come this far, I couldn't resist not trying it, especially as someone who loves good food 😆
