All the dishes were exquisite, especially the sesame shima-aji and the grilled fresh bonito with straw. The grilled scallops in their shells and the dashi rolled omelet were also delicious, and the clay pot rice with sea bream and mitsuba was richly flavored and very satisfying.
The restaurant is close to Abeno Hoop, with counter seats and private rooms, creating a pleasant atmosphere where you can also see the scenery of straw-roasting.
I went to a newly opened restaurant in Tennoji last October✨
The restaurant is called "Sumito Hagama Dogensan" and is located near Abeno Hoop, within walking distance from Tennoji Station and Abeno Station on various train lines🚃
There were counter seats and private rooms✨
I ordered drinks:
Mixed Fruit Sour 🥭
Draft Beer 🍺
The mixed fruit sour was refreshing and delicious✨
I enjoyed some recommended dishes✨
Goma Shimaaji (Seasons fish) 🐟
This replaced the usual mackerel with Shimaaji 🐟
It was served with stem wasabi and myoga.
The sesame sauce was sweet, flavorful, and went perfectly with the Shimaaji.
It paired well with the stem wasabi and myoga as well and was very tasty✨
Grilled Straw-Smoked Bonito 🐟
Served with ponzu,
Onion 🧅
Ginger 🫚
Stem Wasabi 🔥
Fried Garlic 🧄
All of this was included✨
You could see the grilling process from the counter🔥
The bonito was cut thickly, seasoned with salt, and could be enjoyed as is🧂
The cross-section was beautiful, fresh, and delicious🐟
Everything paired with the ponzu seasoning, garnishes, and onion was delightful✨
Grilled Scallops in their Shells over Charcoal 🔥
The scallops were grilled in their shells and seasoned with a sweet soy sauce🐚
The scallops were sweet, juicy, plump, and went perfectly with the soy sauce, making them incredibly delicious✨
Dashi-Wrapped Omelet - with Ikura 🥚
The fluffy omelet was topped with plenty of ikura and grated daikon✨
The dashi omelet had a gentle flavor that, combined with the saltiness of the ikura, was superbly delicious✨
The grated daikon added a refreshing touch as well✨
Madai (Sea bream) and Mitsuba (Japanese wild parsley) Rice Cooked in the Hagama 🍚🐟☘️
The hagama was filled with ample rice, madai, and mitsuba.
The rice was infused with dashi and was delicious,
The madai was flaky,
And the flavor of the mitsuba was excellent and tasty🐟✨
I was thoroughly satisfied with all the dishes which were incredibly delicious😍
Though it's a newly opened restaurant, it is already quite popular✨
The deliciousness explains why it's so well-loved✨
I want to try other dishes as well☺️
