Pretending to really be in Thailand ✌︎(°͈ꆚ°͈)ว
Boat noodles are noodles sold on boats (talking nonsense). In the past, when transportation by land in Thailand wasn't developed, they used to trade on boats, and the rivers were the main trade routes.
To save time and to prevent the noodles from spilling on the boat, they were served in small bowls. After land transport began to develop, boat noodles gradually took root on land 🌱 In short, it’s a cute and interesting history~

This time, I ate at a chain restaurant - Old Boat Noodles in Ayutthaya
This place has a great location, situated in a bustling area, close to the Kaohsiung Pop Music Center. If you’re attending an event, you can come here for a bowl of noodles beforehand.
However, I feel like the storefront isn't very noticeable, as the exterior decor is mostly in shades of gray. The sign is a wooden board with engraved letters, so if, like me, your eyesight isn't great, you might still need to rely on Google Maps...

Walking inside gives a different feeling; it truly has an exotic ambiance.
There are actually cute little stalls in the building, quickly imagine yourself on a boat (?)

✐ Boat noodles $165
· This is my first experience with boat noodles, and the taste is quite different from what I imagined.
I found out later that the broth is made with either pig’s blood or beef blood, seasoned and cooked with salt and spices.
There are also pieces of pig liver (which I don't usually eat, and I can't really accept the taste from this restaurant), marinated meat slices, and pig skin.
It’s rich and layered, and the broth has an indescribable mysterious quality, very unique!

✐ Signature coconut ice cream $70
· The noodles arrived shortly after I ordered, so I set it aside to enjoy as dessert after finishing the noodles. To my surprise, even after a while, it didn't show any signs of melting.
It consists of two solid balls of coconut ice cream & one ball of sticky rice, topped with jackfruit and peanuts. The ice cream melts deliciously in your mouth; the portion is just right, otherwise, it might get too rich.
