The flavor of Huang Men Ji is strong and the sauce is rich. The wide noodles absorb the sauce and are slightly salty, but when paired with other ingredients, it is overall satisfying.
This store has fewer seats and a small space, making it suitable to choose takeout to avoid the crowd.
The restaurant thoughtfully provides free sour plum juice, allowing diners to refresh themselves and cleanse their palate, making the dining experience more enjoyable.

🍲 A personal exclusive place for Huang Meng Ji & Sour Cabbage Fish
I've always heard that a Huang Meng Ji rice place opened near my home,
where one can enjoy the recently popular sour cabbage fish alone.
Considering the restaurant's name prominently features Huang Meng Ji,
I thought I’d try this dish first ❤️
Huang Meng Ji is a famous dish from Shandong, China.
I’m not quite sure if it counts as a type of hot pot,
but the main ingredients are chicken 🐔, potatoes 🥔, green peppers 🫑, etc.
In the version I had in Taiwan, you can choose different meats,
and you can add vegetables 🥬, tofu skin, and other ingredients similar to a hot pot.
The spiciness 🌶️ can be adjusted according to preference.
They also have a luxurious version (super extravagant) and a regular version.
Once finished, it’s served at the table as a large pot that’s already cooked 🍲
This time, I chose the regular version.
The accompanying white rice can be swapped for wide noodles,
which I found fantastic since I'm not a big fan of white rice 👍🏻.
Although the overall sauce was a bit heavy in flavor,
the wide noodles were slightly salty after soaking it up,
but eating it with the ingredients was still quite satisfying 😌
To avoid the previously mentioned saltiness,
the restaurant thoughtfully offers unlimited complimentary sour plum juice.
Much like how sour plum juice often pairs with spicy hot pot,
this is a perfect match that completely relieves greasiness and thirst.
This restaurant has a smaller number of seats,
so if it's full, you might consider takeout.
Next time, I should try the sour cabbage fish 🐟
and see if it’s just as good for an occasional visit ✨
