The dishes, such as cod liver and fried sweet and spicy fish cake, have outstanding flavors and textures, and the prices are quite reasonable. The drinks, like Gin Fizz and Highball, maintain their classic taste, presenting a stable body of flavor.
The store is full of Showa charm, with dim lighting and nostalgic decorations creating a strong atmosphere of nostalgia that leaves a deep impression.
Located on Central West Road in Zhongli District, Mayfly Bar is a small establishment filled with nostalgic Showa-style charm. The dim lighting and the decorations in front of the bar create a strong sense of nostalgia as soon as one steps inside.
Today, I enjoyed a Gin Fizz, a Highball, fried sweet potato balls, and cod liver, totaling 850 NT dollars.
Gin Fizz and Highball:
The drink's body is stable, showcasing classic flavors that are standard and reliable.
Cod Liver:
The portion completely overturns the expectation for a price of 120 NT dollars. Its creamy and delicate texture paired with a subtle taste of the sea is delicious on its own or when combined with sliced onions, which is quite surprising.
Fried Sweet Potato Balls:
The exterior is crispy, while the interior is solid and elastic. Biting into it while hot releases an aroma, and the price of 80 NT dollars is also very reasonable.
Overall, it is a Showa-style bar with a great atmosphere and stable quality in food and drinks, complemented by surprisingly affordable prices that are definitely worth a visit.
The bar also offers several interesting specialty liquors, such as a Taiyaki-flavored liqueur, which makes a strong impression just by its appearance. Mayfly is actually a kanji representation of the Japanese pronunciation “urai suda,” I wonder if you knew that?
I highly recommend it to everyone!
