黑蛋的外觀吸引人,但實際上味道與普通水煮蛋相似,沒有特別的風味。雖然如此,拍照效果佳,值得一試。

Owakudani is a naturally formed scenic spot filled with geothermal heat and sulfur. You can drive up or take the cable car up. I personally recommend taking the cable car because you can overlook the entire Owakudani Valley from a high altitude. The most famous one in Owakudani is the black egg. It is said that just eating one can extend your life by seven years, so it is loved by many people.
But let’s talk about hard-boiled eggs with black shells. Put the eggs into a hot spring at about 80 degrees and boil them for an hour. The iron component is attached to the eggshells, and then hydrogen sulfide reacts chemically on the eggshells, giving it such a black appearance. In the end, it seems that it needs to be steamed for another 15 minutes before it is ready to be served.
In fact, it tasted just like ordinary boiled eggs. I originally imagined that it might have a sulfur smell, might be smelly, or have some special flavor, but it turned out that there was nothing, just ordinary eggs.
However, this egg is very suitable for taking pictures. Combined with the nearby sulfur landforms and the constantly boiling water vapor smoke, it tastes very interesting. So even though it is not very delicious or very unique food, it is still recommended to buy it and try it if you come here. In addition, you have to buy four pieces at a time, and the price of the purchase is 500 yen.
