The taste of black sugar boba milk differs from what I remember. The boba has an acceptable texture, but the flavor of the fresh milk is less pronounced, while the black sugar flavor stands out more.
When I was young, I really liked a drink shop, a hand-shaken beverage store exclusive to Yilan. It has branches in Yilan, and during the time when brown sugar tapioca milk was all the rage, the business was super good. I used to come to Yilan often and would buy a cup. As more beverage brands appeared, I gradually forgot about it. One day, I suddenly craved the brown sugar tapioca milk, so I decided to buy one.
In terms of pricing for hand-shaken drink shops, theirs is relatively cheap, but I’m not sure if it’s my taste that has changed or if their proportions have changed? It doesn’t taste as good as I remembered. The tapioca is still okay, not mushy, but the milk feels a bit subtle and somewhat diluted. The brown sugar flavor is a bit more pronounced. This cup can’t have its sweetness adjusted; only the ice level can be adjusted. I went for less ice, but I'm not sure if that made it taste sweeter. I heard that the medium cup tastes better than the large cup, and I wonder if that’s why I feel there’s a difference from my memories? (I used to mostly have the medium cup.) Or could it be because it’s a branch? I’m not sure, but overall, I feel a bit disappointed.
