The seafood rice bowl at this restaurant offers a wide variety, including octopus, tuna, salmon, eel, and more, all fresh and delicious. The miso soup tastes good, though the seaweed side dish is not quite to my liking, but overall the meal is very tasty.
The interior decoration of the store features models of underwater creatures, creating an aquarium-like atmosphere. There is a variety of seating options available, suitable for individual diners or families.
This time at "Uomaru, the Fish Shop's Directly Managed Dining Hall" in Okinawa, although someone has marked this spot on the map, there is no information available—no photos or reviews—which makes one curious about why this spot was established 😆. Since that's the case, let me provide detailed information about this restaurant!
This place is quite well-known locally as a seafood diner, and I drove there to arrive. There are about seven parking spaces outside, but during mealtimes it is often full; fortunately, I got lucky this time and found a spot just in time.
Inside the restaurant, menus are provided in Chinese and Korean, making it very friendly for travelers who do not understand Japanese. I ordered a mixed seafood rice bowl, which included octopus, tuna, salmon, eel, and what I guess was a type of sunfish, along with several other types of fish and fish roe—quite a generous portion. Every type of fish was incredibly fresh and delicious, opening my eyes as someone who usually only eats salmon in Taiwan. In Taiwan, I feel that other sashimi does not have the aroma and sweetness of salmon, except for parts like the belly or the "tuna's belly."
My wife ordered the salmon roe bowl, and although the salmon appeared to have little fat and was more reddish in color, it tasted sweet and delicious, which was amazing.
The miso soup was also pretty good, with the only small downside being a side dish that was similar to seaweed; I found the seasoning didn’t match my taste, but that's not a big issue. Overall, the meals at this restaurant are very tasty, and they have a good business during meal times; if you want to try it, you might need some luck.
The decor inside the restaurant is also very unique, featuring many models of marine life, creating an aquarium-like atmosphere. There are about 40 seats in total, with different types such as bar seats and tatami seats, making it suitable for both individual visitors and families.
If you have the chance to visit Okinawa, "Uomaru, the Fish Shop's Directly Managed Dining Hall" is definitely worth a try!
