☕️ Sangenjaya is a cozy little coffee shop run by a couple who returned to Japan after living in Australia, emphasizing community and collaboration.
The husband, a barista and coffee roaster who once lived in Australia, and his wife, who worked at a grocery store and bakery, opened this café with the goal of promoting the beauty and importance of local small coffee shops in Japan.
The shop is located on a corner with large windows and has only eight seats inside. It features artworks and cultural magazines, and besides drinks, it also offers snacks like cookies and cakes, along with the sale of coffee beans and groceries.
On this day, I ordered the "Coffee of the Day" in a hot cup for 450 yen, brewed using their own house blend. The taste is clean with a slight acidity, making it a smooth coffee that you can keep drinking.
When I asked if they roast their own beans, the owner’s wife said they have a friend who is a coffee roaster do the roasting for them, and their snacks are also made in collaboration with others, changing according to the seasons. You can feel the owner’s passion and connections; it’s a very warm little shop.
Being able to enjoy this quality of coffee at this price is truly a great value. No wonder it’s often full when I come by; I highly recommend it to everyone.
