Zifeng Cuisine is an unchanging classic flavor in the hearts of many locals in Nantun. This time, I ordered the signature meat soup noodles, which is the most nostalgic dish I’ve been eating since childhood. As soon as it was served, it brought back a flood of memories. The broth has a subtle thickening sensation, blending garlic and crispy scallion flavors, balancing saltiness without being overpowering but full of layers. The meat soup has a handmade, solid texture typical of old-school style, with a bit of elasticity. It’s not heavy with starch but rather lets you taste the genuine meat aroma.

The noodles maintain a consistent maturity, smooth yet not mushy, and retain a chewiness after absorbing the broth. From the early days as a small stand in the market to now having a formal store and branches, the taste of Zifeng has hardly changed.

The environment of the new branch is cleaner and brighter compared to the past vendor days, and there are significantly more seats. Although the prices are a bit higher than during my childhood, what I’m consuming is a serving of memory.

Overall, Zifeng Cuisine is not just a place that sells meat soup noodles; its charm lies in its ordinary yet timeless flavor. That familiar feeling is the rarest deliciousness.
