During the meal on-site, the noodles are hot and chewy, and the sauce is savory and sweet. The preserved egg adds flavor, making it overall delicious. The braised items recommend the large black soybeans.
The store has many humorous slogans that add fun to the dining experience and are quite unique.
This time at "Chen Ji Chi Chi Kan Wai Sheng Mian" in Tainan, it was finally my first time dining in the restaurant. I'm actually not unfamiliar with this place; my wife had previously brought home their signature dish—preserved egg noodle for me. My impression at that time was that the noodles were not very good, probably because takeout affected the texture, but the preserved egg and the sauce were really delicious.
Eating there this time, it was indeed a huge difference! The noodles were hot, chewy, and had a nice bite, paired with that salty sauce with a hint of sweetness and the chopped preserved egg—every bite was very satisfying. The noodles came with a bowl of clear soup, which honestly tasted very bland.
I also had some braised snacks; although I forgot to take a picture at the time, they were really good, especially their large black tofu, which I highly recommend.
The walls of the restaurant were filled with many funny slogans, like "No borrowing the restroom," "Don't steal the toilet paper," and "Noodle orders without soup," which made for a delightful dining experience. Overall, it's a unique and tasty noodle shop.
