Mister Donut, which has been in my childhood memories, has quietly reached its 20th anniversary!
Recently, to commemorate the 20th anniversary, starting from 9/3, they launched a series of products in collaboration with Uni-president Pudding. I found this out when a friend treated me to some donuts. I personally bought them on 8/22, during the “Cute Cat Donut” event, so there were cat-shaped donuts on the shelves.
I suddenly realized that Uni-president really puts a lot of effort into managing Mister Donut, with constant innovation and collaborations, even having their own mascot, Buddy Lion, and Frankie the Sheep. A bunch of merchandise is designed quite cutely, no wonder they have remained strong in such a competitive dessert market for so long.
Mister Donut is not something I usually go out of my way to eat, but just thinking about the QQ texture of Buddy Donuts suddenly makes me crave for a bite 😆.
The new store at the MRT station is super convenient, perfect for picking up a snack while passing by.
This time, I bought the Red Bean Matcha Buddy, Chocolate Obaikan, and Custard Frankie.
The Red Bean Matcha Buddy was on promotion, so with any purchase, I could buy it for 29 NT dollars instead of 45 NT dollars. It perfectly satisfied my craving for a Buddy donut, so I bought two. Although we were sharing, one person had to have a whole Buddy to themselves 👊.
The Red Bean Matcha Buddy was very chewy and bouncy, just the right size for a bite, which I really liked. It had a subtle matcha fragrance, and the red bean powder on the surface wasn't too sweet, which was acceptable. However, when I brought it home, the surface had already become a bit damp. It must have been even better when enjoyed right away.
The Chocolate Obaikan and Custard Frankie are more cake-like. After heating them in the air fryer at home, the chocolate on top slightly melted, and the cake's egg and butter aroma became more pronounced. The exterior was slightly crispy while the inside was soft, tasting much better than when cold! I recommend it to everyone!
