Eel dishes are considered quite high-end meals no matter where you are, but this type of grilled eel cooked directly over an open flame is probably a unique creation of Korea. The first time I learned about this style of eel cooking was from a Korean drama. When I visited Korea previously, I had eaten grilled eel, and this time I specifically did some research to find a restaurant that locals go to, which led me to this very clean and tidy eel restaurant!
When making a reservation at this restaurant, you pay a deposit, which will be deducted from your bill for the day as long as you arrive on time. I personally think this is quite reasonable. Upon arriving at the venue, they will check your reservation name and directly lead you to choose the eel you want to eat that day. You can select the size according to your portion preference. After making your choice, you can sit down and start using the provided side dishes!
The eel is prepared by someone who grills it for us right at our table. Once it's done, they place it on our plates and teach us how to pair it with the side dishes. The staff here have good English skills and can provide perfect answers to any questions. Following their recommendations on how to enjoy the eel allows you to discover many different flavors. The freshness of the eel here is truly excellent, and the grilling technique is very skilled. Every bite of eel is truly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, incredibly delicious. Paired with their side dishes, it’s very appetizing. Initially, I thought the portion of eel would be small, but surprisingly, two people can easily feel full from just one eel!
This restaurant is now on my list of must-visit places. When I come back to Korea next time, I will definitely dine here again. I highly recommend it for its service attitude, ingredients, and various other aspects. I hope that anyone visiting Korea won’t miss out!
