Huang Ji Red Bean Cake, located in Wandan, can almost be described as a queue-worthy establishment in the area. Every weekend, there are always long lines in front of the stall, with the queue stretching as if people are waiting for some limited edition product. Fortunately, it is located right across from the elementary school, and there is relatively good parking nearby, so driving there is not too much trouble. This time, I specifically came to buy the two classic flavors: red bean and cream, and they certainly live up to their reputation.

First, let's talk about the red bean flavor. Huang Ji's red bean filling is distinct and granular, with a sweetness that is evident but not overwhelming. You can taste the aroma and texture of the red beans, which are slightly moist but not runny. The outer crust is slightly crispy, while the inside is soft and chewy, providing a nice layer of texture.

The cream flavor, on the other hand, has a different style, leaning towards a smooth, sweet, and subtly milky type.
