Wu Pao Chun's signature no-harm pineapple cake has an amazing flavor, not overly sweet, and you can still taste the pineapple chunks, with a moderate milky aroma on the outside; the Taiwanese macarons have an average flavor, similar to those found in regular bakeries.
It feels like Wu Baochun has lowered his prices a bit. I never bought anything when the Hanshin Arena opened; it was just too expensive before. Today, I went in and saw some more reasonably priced pastries, so I bought two cheaper ones to try. The signature pineapple cake is $40 each, and it's really delicious... Everyone should try his pineapple cakes! They aren't overly sweet, and you can actually taste the pieces of pineapple. The outer layer has a milky aroma that doesn't overpower the flavor. Although it's quite small—I finished it in two bites! I’ll come back to buy a whole box when I have more money... Then there's the Taiwanese macarons, which has 5 pieces for $50. They're just average, similar to the flavor of regular bakery ones.
